All days of the week should be celebrated, for every day is a gift in itself but this Saturday I celebrated a belated Chinese New Year, Year of the pig.
I first fell in love with this overly long bomber jacket in Taryn print by River Island, Rihanna collection AND THEN…… I found the matching trousers a few months later on an eBay browse. I had to wear it all. In Chinese New Year tradition the colours have always been red and gold, even though this is tartan print I had to run with this idea! I love a co-ords but I also love a mix and match so throw on a leopard print Zara top ( that I got recently in the sale for £3.00) and my trusty hot gold Dr Martens.
My mothers family are originally from Guyana, named the Place of Four Nations because are never just one origin. You are a mix of either Black, Chinese, Asian or Caucasian. Guyana sits just off of Brazil so this is no surprise of the mix ethnicity. I find this a true blessing and acceptance of others. I alway embrace and educate myself on different cultures. I am first generation black British but also a mix of black Chinese , when myself and my cousins get together, we literally look like an ad for United Colors of Benetton. Which I will always love and love my family very much so.
We of course celebrated in China Town London, food and cocktails and wishes of health, wealth and love.
